1. Apply online
Click the link at the bottom of this page to begin your online application. You will be asked to create an account if you don’t already have one, and you will have the option to save your progress and return to the application to complete it at a later date. We will not review incomplete applications.
2. Contact your references
It is essential that you contact your references to make them aware that you have completed an application to work at Camp Carl and that they should expect to hear from us by phone or email. Ignoring this important step may impact your chances of getting hired to work at camp. Be sure to follow the instructions on the application about who can serve as a reference for you. The best references are employers, managers, teachers, and coaches who know your work ethic and character well.
3. We will email you within 1 week of receiving your application
If we have available positions that match your skills and experience, we will email you to let you know that we would like to conduct a preliminary interview with you. If we do not feel that you are a good match for camp or if we do not have available positions, we may send you an email thanking you for applying and letting you know that we will not pursue your application further at that time. If you do not hear from us at all within one week of submitting your application, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. Video Interview
Our video interview takes place on SparkHire, a web-based interview platform. You will have a link to complete your one-way video interview at your convenience. You will log in to the SparkHire website, and you will answer ten questions. The camera on your computer, iPad, or phone will record video of you answering each question, and you will be able to view your answers before you submit them. It may sound intimidating, but it’s an easy process! Plan on this interview taking approximately 30 minutes to complete.
5. We will begin contacting your references
Again, it is not a good sign if your references are surprised to hear from us or don’t know who you are well enough to provide a reference for you. If we attempt to make contact with your references twice and do not hear back from them, we will ask you to assist us with getting in contact with them before we can allow you to continue on in the application process.
6. We will contact you within one week of your video interview.
If your video interview is successful and we still feel that you may be a good fit for one of our available positions, we will email you to schedule a time for your face-to-face interview. We conduct the face-to-face interview at Camp Carl if possible. If not, we will be using the live interview feature on SparkHire, which is similar to Skype or FaceTime.
7. Face-to-face Interview
The face-to-face interview will last approximately 45 minutes and is an important time to ask questions about camp and the expectations of the job. The face-to-face interview focuses on your past experiences and how they have prepared you for a job as a summer camp staffer.
8. We will contact you by email within one week of your second interview
This email will contain information about when you can expect to hear a final hiring decision from us and will invite you to stay in contact with us throughout this process.
9. Final hiring decision.
We will contact you by email with our hiring decision.
